Never Judge A Book By It's Cover
My faith in mankind was restored today. have you ever seen one of the younger male generation in the baggy jeans and baseball cap sideways on their head? I saw one in Walmart today. My first thought was what a idiot. Then God changed my view. Right then my cart I was ridding just stopped, I couldn't make it go at all. My basket was full and I was to far from the front to walk. I kept moving it with my feet and it would go a few inches. Then the young gentleman approached me as said, "mam I went to the front for you and someone is coming to help." Thank you didn't seem like enough. But I decided to try not to judge some one's inside by their outside. I don't know his name nor will I ever see him again, but hope is not lost with all of our younger generation.

HELP I'VE FALLEN AND CAN'T GET UP
I realize it has been a long, long time since I have published. Don't have an excuse.
Today I went to Brownwood with husband to tackle packing up some more of his dad's house. Things went good, and we went to have lunch with his aunt and cousin. He let me out at the front door, I stepped out of the truck, closed the door, took one step and that is all I remember until the some men were calling me mam, several times. The firetruck came, and the EMT's. i had gone into very low blood sugar. I got to drink a real coke. I bumped my head scraped both elbows, and screwed up my left knee. I'm OK, and expect to be sore tomorrow.

How Rude!
We are finally going to Michigan to see the twins & Noah, oh I almost forgot,
Audra and Pat too. Preparing for this event I have been shopping for baby cloths and Harry Potter books. Today I went out to the Wal Mart on the north side of town. I was looking for a handicapped space and saw a man unloading his sacks into his trunk. I politely ask if I could have the cart and said sure. I parked and he even brought the cart to me. I started to the door and an outside basket guy was walking toward me, and just stopped and didn't say a thing. Wen on i to the store found what I was looking for and went out. I put my sack in the car and proceeded to put the cart where the baskets were and here came the same cart guy. I ask "are you here for this cart?" His answer was "yes and don't ever pull that again". I just laughed and went on my way. You can count on two things. 1)I will report his rude behavior to the manager & 2)I won't go back to that Wal Mart.

Pool Time
We had our first swim of the summer on Saturday. The water temp was 86, it felt good. Justin can touch the bottom in the shallow end he would just bounce along on his tiptoes. Cameron loved pushing him in. We had a great time.

The Best Test Ever
I took the test and I don't see it, but I am Yoda
You are wise beyond your years — a sage for the ages, the master's master. That's why your Star Wars type is Yoda. Sure, you might not look too much like the little green Jedi Master, but you have a quiet contemplative way about you that commands respect.People trust you, especially your friends who are constantly coming to you for advice and sometimes predictions. While you may not be able to tell them who's going to win the big game, you do possess the rare ability to see the big picture. You never lose sight of the fact that we're all part of a greater whole. It keeps you grounded and balanced, and it's the perfect cover for a mischievous sense of humor that always catches others off-guard. This mix of wisdom and impish delight promises to bring you long life...another thousand years or so anyway.

Burn-Burn
You would think I would have learned my lesson with the boiling water (Feb. 2007). This isn't the same but you know what happens when you lift the lid off of a steamer? Burns just as bad. I told David I needed a sling for my thumb. He just laughed. Another burn blister on the top of my left thumb. Oh well, life goes on.
Monz
In case you are wondering what or who is Monz. She is my grandmother, if she were still alive she would be 107 on July 4. She has been on my mind yesterday & today. I made me a new Recipe Box and transferred all of my recipes over & came upon some of hers. Most of them on paper written in pencil, some on bank deposit slips. She was a wonderful cook, but very few of her recipes had directions, just ingredients. Hers always came out great. She was my only living grandmother, (my mom's mother died when she was very young) I can almost taste her Tea Cakes just thinking about them now. She was a home maker and was home all day, so my brother and I stayed every day with her. I remember popcorn cooked on the stove in a kettle, I can feel the cold crisp sheets and how heavy the quilts were on me when I spent the night there. She had a quilting loom that hung from the ceiling over the bed I slept in. It was on a pulley system, so she could raise it out of the way.
All of my memories of her are wonderful, and I hope one day my grandchildren can remember me with the happy thoughts I have of her.

BUNCO
It is hard to believe that 12 women can have as much fun as our Bunco group does. We become like little children laughing all the time. When someone yells BUNCO! the red fuzzy dice will fly across the room. We have been know to cause distraction when our opponent is on a roll. All of us have been stabbed by fingernails, and havens to Betsey DON'T TAKE THE PEN WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE THE TABLE. It is a time we can let our hair down and forget about the crying kids, what is going on at work, our the laundry that needs to be done. We are women having a good time with our friends.
Becky called me today and gave me a web site to play Bunco on line. http://bunco.kewlbox.com/
I haven't tried it as of yet. Then I saw a commercial on Lifetime today that on Friday @ 10:00 pm our time the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BUNCO TOURNAMENT in Las Vegas will be on. Can't get any better than that.
These are some pics from one of our playing times. See how happy we all are.

Northern Grandchildren
Ryan and Shannon are gaining weight and doing fine. I think they are keeping their mom hopping. She tries to sleep when they do, but then Noah needs tending to. Noah played in his first Ball game Saturday. All of my children said they would only have two kids. Then Audra had twins and now she has three. Tee-Hee-Hee. I do have to say that Audra & Becky are getting what they deserve. Cameron checks Justin's diaper to see if he pooped. Justin held his hand up to his mother and said talk to the hand. They both have their hands full. Of course Bobby has Angie to keep him and the kids in line. The Island they live on is so small I don't think Braden and Kyndal can get into much. You got to love um.

Saturday
Have you ever had one of those days when it would have been better not to wake up? So far that is my day today. When I got up and got in the shower I nearly slipped twice inside the shower. Then getting out I slipped again but didn't fall, but banged my leg. OK, I can make it. Pured some coffee, treated myself to some bacon and eggs. Burned some of the bacon in the microwave. Took my blood sugar, it's OK. Gave myself a shot if insulin and took what I thought were my pills. (David and I each have a weekly pill organizer and they are different colors not to get them mixed up). Drank my cup of coffee and came into kitchen to unload the dishwasher, I saw my pills on the cabinet and not on the table. When I looked close all of David's pills for today were gone, and mine were not. I called him, (he is doing a "Together We Build" house)asking had he taken his medicine this morning and he said NO! I ask him if there were any pills that might hurt me and he said no, you may get real sluggish and just keep an eye on my blood sugar. So my mourning goes. Am I ready for the loony bin? I think so.
Happy Anniversary to David and Becky today. Seven years.

Virginia Tech
The event at Virginia Tech yesterday brought back my own memories I had rather not remember. I was two blocks from the UT tower on that horrible day in 1966. I was attending Beauty School. The police came to tell us we had to stay inside away from the window. I couldn't get a phone call out to my parents, due to traffic on all lines. We could hear the shots, people crying and just chaos. I was safe then, but today it makes me mindful of how short life can be. We need to make the best of our lives and live it to the fullest and always look to Jesus. May God bless these family's who have lost loved ones and comfort them in this time of sorrow.

Ryan & Shannon
Our babies are home. Audra called late this afternoon to let us know they were home. They are doing good. No pictures as of yet. Will post them when I get some.
Man's Best Friend
Winnie, Just in case you haven't met is our little long haired dachshund. That was husbands retirement present. She quite attached to husbands hip. When husband is gone on one of his hauling trips she misses him like crazy. She sleeps with him every night. If he gets up she wakes up and sits upright until he comes back to bed. Last Thursday night things went a muck. Husband was gone and I decided to sleep in the bed to see if it still hurt my back (it did). At 3:00 am I got out of bed to sleep in recliner. Winnie did not wake up. At 9:00 am the next morning I went into the bedroom and there she was still sleeping in the same place. She must have heard me walk in because she set up and looked around, it was as if she didn't know where she was for a second. She got down and went to the back door as if nothing happened. What a crazy dog.
I was told by her Vet that there are two kinds of unconditional love, the first is God and the second is a dog. Spell God backwards.

Thank You
My grandchildren are the most precious things in the world. I love them all. Right now I am only able to see the two who live here in San Angelo, and so I get a grandchild fix about every other day or so. When we left Becky & David's on Sunday Justin gave me a hug and a kiss and said "thank you for coming and playing". How sweet & polite.
Easter Egg Hunt
What a wonderful Easter this year. We had freezing rain and snow, but that didn't stop the Easter Bunny from leaving eggs at the Bray household. Cameron just waited for Justin to gather up most of the eggs and then he took them out of Justin's basket and added them to his. You can see Becky's reaction in the background. David and Becky fixed a wonderful meal and we had a really good time.

Christmas? Easter?
Where was all of this snow at Christmas? We have the biggest snowflakes coming down I have ever seen along with sleet of course. Good thing Easter Eggs are different colors, easier to find in the snow. Back to kitchen organizing.

Holy Smokes!
What is with this weather? Wednesday the pool temp. was 77.
We have always had our first jump in on Easter Sunday, but not this year. We are supposed to have snow. Something is all messed up it is EASTER not CHRISTMAS. Build a fire and put the electric blanket back on the bed. Tomorrow will be a good scrapping day.

Friday, March 30, 2007
Have you ever met someone that seems to be lucky all of the time. I have, my husband. Saturday is his birthday and I went today to get him his present. He had talked like he wanted a vertical smoker. I found one and brought it home. He started un-boxing it on the patio and discovered two dents in the back. I told him for the price I paid take it back and get one without dents. When he got to the store he told them about the dents, and a manager came out to the truck, and he told the manager they could knock the price by half or he would take it inside and get one that wasn't dented. They agreed and he brought me half of the money back along with a prize number that we got a $10.00 gift card. I stand amazed all the time at what he can accomplish.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID! I LOVE YOU

Who Done It?
Just about the time things seem to be going ok. The ball drops. Yesterday I thought David was out back messing with the trailers. Well he wasn't. Someone tried to break into our travel trailer. They broke a window and tried to pry the door open. They didn't succeed. We called the police, for what good that will do. So David's going to Abilene tomorrow to get it fixed. Happy Trails |

SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN
I can't believe it they are here. Ryan Andrew & Shannon Michelle. They arrived by C-section early this mourning. They are 5 weeks early so they need a little help from the respirator, other than that they are ok. Noah slept thru the whole thing. His Aunt Jenny told him as she woke him up to get ready for school and he woke up with a smile. He is getting to ware his "BIG BROTHER" T-Shirt to school. Pat's mother is making small hand print cookies for him to take to school tomorrow to share with his class. Family reunions will be great!

Vacation?
Well if you have seen Becky's post you know she has gone to Austin to visit her sister-in-law. I won't have an opportunity to see J & C until Monday. It will have been five days by the time I am able to see them on Monday. I usually talk to B several times a day. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? Not only that but at the same time she left town, David left town on a hauling trip and won't be back until Saturday night. Now let me see! What can I do, what can I do? Oh! I know, SCRAPBOOK, SCRAPBOOK, SCRAPBOOK! This is possible because I can eat when I need to and so on. So her I go. No more blog for me until Sunday. Have a good weekend.

Becky
Thirty six years ago tonight Mine and David's life was beginning a new chapter in our lives. This was a Friday and we had just moved to Lewisville, Texas nine days ago. Now I was in Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas awaiting this joyful bundle I wanted to hurry up and get here. All I can say is thank goodness for epidurals, I got mine at 11:30 pm. The night went good. Then at 7:58 AM on the 13th we had Rebecca Ann. Our lives have never been the same since, and we wouldn't change a thing.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKY

Can You Say Stupid?
I don't like using that word, but it is for myself. Remember science in school? What happens to cold glass when you add boiling, Not just hot but boiling water. Yes I am 59 years old and forgot. I was going to make jell-o and thought I will cool the bowl that will help it set faster. I was making a double batch and when I poured the last 2 cups of water the bowl it broke and let 4 cups of boiling water on my stomach and legs. David happened to be standing right by me and helped me get my dress of. I was screaming I'm burning, I'm burning. I got in the shower and the spray of the shower hurt so bad, but I got the red jell-o washed off and could see where it burned. My left stomach and thigh. We had some burn medicine and it helped some but I already have blisters. I will be ok. Now I can say Stupid, think next time.

Ouchy
As adults we seem to want to make the world difficult. We need to listen to our children/grandchildren. The Dr. has me wearing a orthopedic shoe that does not cause pressure on any part of my foot. I can't even remember the name of the shoe. Yesterday, (Friday) Papaw and I were visiting Justin and Cameron, well C was sleeping, & J was playing video games. He wanted to sit in my lap and play and of course I let him. Becky has always reminded he can't stand on Mamaws feet, so as he climbed up in my lap, he looked at my right foot and said, "you have on your ouchy shoe". He wanted to kiss it and make it better.

Grandchildren, They are what makes the world go around
Today was my son-in-laws birthday, and we always take them out to eat. We went to Cheddars. We all sat down at the table, gave our drink orders and as the waiter walked away, Justin said "French Fries" His mother said we will get them in a moment. They brought out the onion rings and Justin dove in, and Cameron enjoyed them also. When the food came, both of the boys inhaled the french fries and chicken strips. Of course there were three young ladies sitting next to us and Cameron kept them entertained by being the sweet little guy he is. Now a teacher from Mother's Day Out comes in and did Justin get excited. He told everyone around us Miss Vickie, Miss Vickie. Justin is doing good on the potty training and being at Cheddars is no different than home, except there are more people there to tell. His daddy said he told everyone he passed he was going to go tee-tee. We were getting up to leave and Justin headed for the bathroom wanting to go again. Needless to say after dinner they went to buy big boy under ware.
Memories like this make this Mamaw extremely happy.

I haven't posted in a long time, but I have a good excuse. I had a bad place on my right foot under a bunion, of course mine got infected. I called my doctor on Dec 26, she was gone. The podiatrist was gone also. I got an appointment at the wound center, I've been there so many times I don't need a referral any more. I started on an antibiotic and had to stay off my foot. A week later went back, still infected. Now I need a bone scan. I've had bone scans before for the three toes I don't have any more. Sure enough I had an infection in the bone. I have an excellent doctor, and he suggested I try Hyperbaric treatment. In case you don't know, that is 100% oxygen at 2X the earth's atmosphere. I was a bit skeptic about being closed into a little capsule for 2 hours. I now have had 11 treatments out of 40. I have to go Monday - Friday, for 8 weeks. It doesn't bother me at all now. The first time I went in I felt like Dr. Spock on Star Track when they put him in the capsule and shot him into outer space.
